Rajnikant and Japan

Guess what good old Rajnikanth is up to? He is creating waves in Japan!
This is a death-blow to all those Bollywood elite who make fun of his style; he rocks and his fame proves it!
Here’s a Rajnikanth poster in a movie hall in Japan

You can read more about this on the Economic Times.
Interestingly, not so long while ago, I was one of the young Indians who was crazy about the Japanese Superhero Giant Robot! .
Trivia: Another Bollywood star who was hugely popular in another country was Raj Kapoor. Also, Chunky Pandey is almost worshipped in Bangladesh. But nothing comes close to the demigod status of Rajnikanth in India! Mind it!

Update: Here’s an embedded video of Rajnikant. Now you see why he is God.

HEYYYY - is that the guy from the youtube clip singing “If you come today, it’s too early…” ??

No. That was Rajkumar. He was the undisputed God of Kannada Cinema. His death last year created a riot situation in the country.

I like Indian movies but I’m having trouble understanding the Rajinikant appeal, and that video, while extremely entertaining, was not enlightening.

Is his mucho machoness something only a male can appreciate?

Hey this joost thing, can you send me an invite?

    P.S. I love all robots.

Well - that’s something even I do not quite understand. But he really is worshipped as a God.
    Joost invite - done!

Rajni fills a void in the Tamil heart. Before that was MGR- the patron of the underdog.

But like all Tamil movies, the movie is not superficial as in Hindi movies (which are basically ‘Bimbo’ movies showing off good looks and color).

Because of the lack of conventional looks amonng South Indian heroes, they focus on plot, storylines and esp dialog.

Besides South India has always been tought of the seat of India’s intellectualism.

And Rajni is only huge in Tamil Nadu and no where else. And now maybe Japan
